Welcome to the latest edition of Playing Out Loud,
POL for short. More comprehensive than ever with in-depth articles and interviews. As regular
visitors will know, and there are thousands of them now making
90,000+ hits per
month, our mission is to stimulate interest in live music and let you know
what’s on and where in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining
counties. Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are
all covered - if it’s live it’s here. But POL is not just a gigs listing site.
Our Message Board has proved a popular innovation and can be used to recruit band members or announce last-minute gigs.
And it’s completely free. We will continue to review gigs, CDs, books and restaurants and provide you with the latest news.
We also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers
looking to improve their press, media or web content, and help them get more
gigs.
With over twenty years media experience, I personally know what is required to
get media coverage and how to present it, so

Welcome to December’s
Playing Out Loud. We feature a varied line-up in our
Articles section with pieces on R&B
legends Dr Feelgood who are playing two dates in the South, Roy Wood’s Army, The
Human League, Amor, Scarlet Soho and The Wildcards. We’ve also got another
exclusive in our News section
concerning Fee Waybill of The Tubes who - believe it or not - has been bitten by
Mouse Ear bats!
As usual our Listings section tell
you what’s on where and when with some star names around like Geno Washington &
The Ram Jam Band who play at Aldershot at the beginning of the month and return
to Hampshire for a cracking New Years Eve gig at The Brook in Southampton.
Glenn Tilbrook, The Stylistics, The Big Chris Barber Band, Slade, The Damned,
Eric Bibb, The SAS Band, Kasabian, Bjorn Again and many more star names pop up
all over the South. You can search our
Listings section geographically to find out what’s on where you are. Just
about every sort of music is covered and many of the gigs at pubs and smaller
venues are free.
Our gig review and
CD review sections will be updated
during the month - coming up are reviews of new CDs by John Otway and Roger
Chapman, and we’ll be at venues like The Brook to see The Beat and Steve Harley
with Cockney Rebel.
