Welcome to
PLAYING OUT LOUD!
Welcome to the latest edition of Playing Out Loud,
POL for short, a monthly guide to live music
in the South of England, with gig listings, articles, interviews, news, CD and
gig reviews and much more. We now get nearly 250,000 hits per month, reflecting
the success of our mission to stimulate interest in live music in Hampshire,
Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining counties.
Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are all covered
- if it’s live it’s here. Just click on the headings above to go where you want
to go, or use our search engine to keep track of your favourite artists.
As experts in the music media field with a host of contacts in the music
industry, we also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers
looking to improve their press, media or web content, and get more gigs, and to
venues wishing to raise their profile and pull in more customers. Please email
me for more details. And if you like the look of this website our website
manager can also help you set up your own website or improve your existing
one. Again, just email for more information.
POL Editorial.
Welcome to the December edition of Playing Out Loud.
We’re now into our 8th year of promoting
music in the South of England, and as usual we’ve got pages and pages of live
music Listings which includes more
information about the artists and styles than most websites, and in our
Previews section we focus on a few
gigs to give you a bit more information. Featured this month are bluegrass,
electro-pop, classic rock, folk and punk in the shape of The Coal Porters, Paul
Barrere & Fred Tackett, The New York Dolls, Scarlet Soho, Mostly Autumn and The
Men They Couldn’t Hang.
Our Coming Soon
section looks ahead to gigs right up until the end of September to help you plan
ahead with your live music outings. Album, gig and book
reviews will be added during the
month so keep coming back to us to keep up to date. And next month our Festival
Focus feature returns to keep you in touch with the lineups to all the festivals
in the South.
This month we bring you the second in our new
My Music feature in which local
musicians are quizzed about their musical preferences – we feature Owen Tromans
this month.
Finally, if you like this site and want it to continue, or you are a promoter,
artist or venue who appreciate our efforts, you can make a donation by clicking
on to our Donations logo. All contributions gratefully received, as we have been
operating at a loss for the last six years!
