Welcome to
PLAYING OUT LOUD!
Welcome to the latest edition of Playing Out Loud,
POL for short. More comprehensive than ever with in-depth articles and interviews. As regular
visitors will know, and there are thousands of them now making
90,000+ hits per
month, our mission is to stimulate interest in live music and let you know
what’s on and where in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining
counties. Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are
all covered - if it’s live it’s here. But POL is not just a gigs listing site. Our Message Board has proved a popular innovation and can be used to recruit band members or announce last-minute gigs.
And it’s completely free. We will continue to review gigs, CDs, books and restaurants and provide you with the latest news. We also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers
looking to improve their press, media or web content, and help them get more
gigs.
With over twenty years media experience, I personally know what is required to
get media coverage and how to present it, so
email me for more details. If you
like the look of this website my website manager can also help you set up your
own website or improve your existing one. Again, just
email for more
information.
POL Editorial.
Happy New Year everybody! Hope 2005 is full of musical highlights for you - keep
coming back to this site to make sure you don’ t miss out on anything.
January is not the best month for live music, there’s always a bit of a hangover
after Christmas, but we’ve still got 18 pages of listings covering events all
across the South.
Amongst them are the artists featured in our
Articles section - Jim Diamond &
Snake Davis, David Kitt, Emma Johnson, The Jive Aces, Aynsley Lister & Ian
Parker and the Call Up The Groups tour featuring the Barron Nights, Marmalade,
The Fortunes and The Tremeloes. Appearing elsewhere and covered in our Listings
section are Alan Price, Athlete, Cathy Davey, Carleen Anderson, Pete Way of UFO
and his band Waysted, plus all the local talent at smaller venues.
You can also find a very personal and subjective list of the gigs of 2004 and
the best CDs of the year in our Reviews
section. Our Festivals guide will reappear in a month or two to tell you who’s
appearing where during the festival season, and we have many more plans for this
website including an expanded Restaurants section and a Lifestyle section which
will cover everything from health and fitness, fashion and beauty, art, cinema,
literature, travel and much more. If there is anything you would particularly
like to see there let us know by email.
Meanwhile, keep visiting
www.playingoutloud.co.uk - it’s constantly update during each month &
gets a complete makeover on the 1st of each month. And keep supporting live
music - wherever you live there is something you’ll like happening somewhere
near you!
