Welcome to our guide to music festivals in the South of England
which will be a regular feature right up until October.
SALISBURY FESTIVAL - MAY 27 - JUNE 19
Amongst the musical highlights of this year’s festival are appearances by the
National Beijing Opera Company of China, Laurie Anderson, Dame Felicity Lott,
Marianne Faithfull, Britten Sinfonia, Battlefield Band, Reg Presley & The Troggs,
Sambuca, Omar Sosa Trio and many more. Events take place at the newly
refurbished Salisbury Arts Centre, at Stonehenge, Old Sarum, the Cathedral
Close, Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury City Hall and many pubs around the town.
As well as music there are also drama productions, a circus, comedy, talks,

DARTMOOR FOLK FESTIVAL, SOUTH ZEAL NEAR
OKEHAMPTON - AUGUST 5 - 7
The 28th Dartmoor Folk Festival lineup includes: The Posh Band, Roy Bailey,
Hanging Johnny, Dangerous Curves, The Sultans of Squeeze (John Kirkpatrick and
Chris Parkinson), Ben Campbell, Rob Pudner, Ticklish Allsorts,Betty & Norman
McDonald, Moor Music, Dave Wills, Tony Beard. The Dartmoor Pixie Band and
several Morris and dance teams will also be there plus many local teams.
Highlights of the friendly and traditional festival include: the Dartmoor Broom
Dance Championships, Dartmoor Step Dance Championships, a Dartmoor Fayre, craft
displays, dances, a music hall, ceilidh, workshops, Folk service, pub sessions
and children’s entertainment. Other attractions include a craft tent, sideshows
and dance displays.
