ISLE OF WIGHT JAZZ DIVAS FESTIVAL -
APRIL 8 - 10
Isle of Wight Jazz Divas Festival is being held at Ventnor from Friday April 8
to Sunday April 10. There is an international lineup with the accent on women in
jazz, and amongst the performers are the great Jacqui Dankworth, the Annie
Whitehead Quintet, the Andrea Vicari Trio with Mornington Lockett, Sue Hawker
and Rob Koral, Julia Farino and The Beachcombers, The Borvil Sisters and many

OXFORD FOLK FESTIVAL - OXFORD MAY 13 - 15
Artists announced so far: Danú, Show of Hands, Juan Martín, Frankie Gavin, The
Demon Barbers, Roadshow, Whapweasel, The Committee Band, The Wrigley Sisters,
The English Acoustic Collective, Maggie Boyle, Coope, Boyes and Simpson, Jaune
Toujours, The Mellstock Band, Les Barker, David Hughes, Norbert Pignol,
Strawberry the Clown, Jali Fily Cissokho, Bella Hardy, John Dipper Band, Sild,
Arlen and Mawkin.
The festival will centre on the Town Hall, with other venues around the city
including the Late Night Groove at the Cellar Bar, with DJ's Verity Sharp and
Fiona Talkington from Radio 3's Late Junction. There are many more artists to be

WINCHESTER FOLK FESTIVAL
MAY 13 - 15
The 30th festival features an eclectic programme of concerts, ceilidhs, sessions
and workshops. Artists confirmed include Dr Faustus, The Bismarcks, Danú, John
Kirkpatrick and Roy Bailey, Luke Plumb (Shooglenifty) and Simon Bradley,
Colcannon, Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer, Craig Morgan Robson and many others,
including local acts such as Albatross Pie, the Andover Museum Loft Singers, the
Woodfidley Band and many dance groups.
The festival will take place In venues around Winchester as diverse as the
Theatre Royal, the Guildhall, various pubs and clubs, the High Street and the
grounds of the Cathedral. Opening on the Friday evening, the festival gets under
way with a series of folk club sessions and gigs in a range of intimate pub and
club venues in Winchester.
Saturday is packed with concerts, street dancing, singing and instrumental
sessions, workshops and story-telling and offers the choice of a concert or
ceilidh at the Guildhall to end the day. The Theatre Royal is the venue for most
of the activities on Sunday with a series of concerts and workshops culminating
with a concert by the top Irish band, Danú.
