Welcome to the latest edition of Playing Out Loud,
POL for short, a monthly guide to live music
in the South of England, with gig listings, articles, interviews, news, CD and
gig reviews and much more. We now get nearly 250,000 hits per month, reflecting
the success of our mission to stimulate interest in live music in Hampshire,
Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining counties.
Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are all covered
- if it’s live it’s here. Just click on the headings above to go where you want
to go, or use our search engine to keep track of your favourite artists.
As experts in the music media field with a host of contacts in the music
industry, we also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers
looking to improve their press, media or web content, and get more gigs, and to
venues wishing to raise their profile and pull in more customers. Please email

Welcome to the March edition of Playing Out Loud. As usual we’ve got pages
and pages of live music listings,
news,
gig, DVD and CD reviews and our
Festival Focus section.
A new
feature is our totally revised Food &
Things section which lists 160 restaurants and eating places across the South.
We’ve eaten in all of them and given them the POL seal of approval. So if you
want to find somewhere to eat before or after going out to a music gig, or are
looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion, just take a look at
Food
& Things which is set our geographically just like our
Listings section.
We’ve spotlighted half a dozen of the best March gigs in our
Articles section. We’ve also got
reviews of the latest
CDs by our reviewer Martin Sirl and a review of Nick Cave’s latest DVD.
Our Festival Focus section is
beginning to expand as organisers confirm bookings. You can use the link at the
top of the page to go straight through to the Fareham and Gosport Easter
Festival website, and click on Festival Focus to
see the latest names booked for the Larmer Tree Festival, Eastleigh Summer
Festival and many more.
