Welcome to
PLAYING OUT LOUD!

Welcome to the latest edition of Playing Out Loud, POL for short, a monthly guide to live music in the South of England, with gig listings, articles, interviews, news, CD and gig reviews and much more. We now get nearly 250,000 hits per month, reflecting the success of our mission to stimulate interest in live music in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining counties.
Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are all covered - if it’s live it’s here. Just click on the headings above to go where you want to go, or use our search engine to keep track of your favourite artists.

As experts in the music media field with a host of contacts in the music industry, we also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers looking to improve their press, media or web content, and get more gigs, and to venues wishing to raise their profile and pull in more customers. Please email me for more details. And if you like the look of this website our website manager can also help you set up your own website or improve your existing one. Again, just email for more information.

And don’t forget to look out for AND Magazine where PLAYING OUT LOUD has a double-page spread in each issue. The magazine covers the same geographical area as POL and also includes leisure, travel, food, fashion, cinema, theatre and many other subjects.

POL Editorial.
Welcome to the March edition of Playing Out Loud. As usual we’ve got pages and pages of live music Listings which includes more information about the artists and styles than most websites, and in our Previews section we focus on a few gigs to give you a bit more information. We cover rock, pop, jazz, folk and blues this month in the shape of artists Buddy Whittington, Buck 65, Boy Kill Boy, Marjorie Thompson, Red Priest, Martin Stephenson and Bella Hardy.

Our Coming Soon section looks ahead to gigs right up until the end of May to help you plan ahead with your live music outings. Album, gig and book reviews will be added during the month so keep coming back to us to keep up to date.

Our Festival Focus section is back, and we have a new section, The Shop, in which we will be offering music-related items for sale at reasonable prices – vinyl records, CDs, music magazines like Q, Record Collector etc, music memorabilia, book and much more. You can also contact The Shop for specific enquiries if you are searching for a particular record, CD etc and we will try to help you.

Our Food & Things section includes reviews and a list of recommended restaurants. We hope to update this section a bit more regularly in future and welcome the submission of reviews from any of you out there who want to share their eating out experiences with a larger audience!

Finally, if you like this site and want it to continue, or you are a promoter, artist or venue who appreciate our efforts, you can make a donation by clicking on to our Donations logo.
