PLAYING OUT LOUD!
NEWS
BOS*STOCK COMMUNITY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL, SHELLEY
PARK, BOSCOMBE,
BOURNEMOUTH - SATURDAY MAY 14
Bos*stock is an outdoor music and art event which involves the lively Boscombe
community. A colourful blend of local artists and bands, acoustic open mic
sessions (bring your own instrument!), chill-out area, art exhibitions, music
workshops, art & craft stalls, café and children’s workshops - open to everyone!
Please contact Maike on 0796 1847216 or email
bos_stock05@yahoo.co.uk for
more information.
The main focus of the festival will be the live music stage with programme
running from 12pm until 7pm. Bands include new roots reggae formation PepperSoup
and Perico ( www.perico.co.uk
) with their South American music style. Subgiant (
www.subgiant.co.uk )
previously performed ambient dub at Glastonbury and Bestival. The Farangs (
www.thefarangs.net )
with their melodic ska punk are joined by Adsono performing Djmbe-driven,
energetic folk rock, and Jinder (
www.jinderonline.co.uk
), who is already well known in the local music scene. Roads (www.roadsmusic.co.uk
) and The Shrouds will add a more rocky edge to the line-up.
In addition to the main stage acoustic artists such as the lovely Anita are
asked to perform in the chill-out tent where the audience is also invited to
join the drumming workshops. To round up the festival the Boscombe Community
Fair is organising a Fairy Ball running from 8pm to 1am, venue to be confirmed.
Tickets are available at Bos*stock and fairy wings can be crafted at the
Butterfly Project stall.
Continuing its' series of performances from visiting American artists, the
Railway Inn, Winchester hosts Texan supergroup The Resentments on Sunday May 15
at 8pm. This is quite a coup for the venue, which in less than a year has
established itself as one of the leading venues in the UK for Americana,
rivalling London's Borderline Club.
Ring Oliver Gray for further information on 01962 714520. Tickets are £9 in
advance by calling the Railway on 01962 867795.
I know there are a lot of Jackie Leven fans out there. So get up to London later
this month for a unique collaboration between one of the South’s most inspired
singer songwriters and the novelist Ian Rankin. Jackie will be singing
and playing guitar and Ian will be reading in a presentation called “Jackie
Leven Said.” It’s on Sunday May 15 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall Belvedere Road,
South Bank, London SE1 8XX
Enquiries: 020 7921 0682 Box Office: 020 7960 4242 - don’t miss it!

May 30. This rock & roll spectacular runs from 7pm until 10pm. Thereafter the
