of Wight on Sunday November 27 - an evening of Irish, English, Scottish and
Roots music starting at 7.15pm and running through til midnight. Featuring top
island bands including The Dance Preachers, Last Orders, TinLids and Millicent's
Favourite, plus other special guests. Tickets are £5 and there will be a raffle,

Following a sell out show in the summer, Bee Gees Fever are returning to The
Rose Bowl Atrium at West End, Southampton on Friday November 25, in aid of the
Mayor of Eastleigh’s charity appeal. Bee Gees Fever are a totally live tribute
band with all the raw energy that's guaranteed to get even the most reserved
feet up on the dancefloor.
Since 1999 Bee Gees Fever have been wowing audiences across the UK and Europe
with their stunning live tribute to the music of the Brothers Gibb. From the
soulful ballads Too Much Heaven and How Deep Is Your Love through to the high
energy disco classics such as Stayin' Alive and Night Fever, the band faithfully
recreate the songs that have helped make the Bee Gees musical legends over the
last four decades.
With a full show of over 2 hours, there will be something for everyone from
every era of the Bee Gees glittering career, and they create a striking visual
tribute too as they pay tribute to the ‘Saturday Night Fever' image of the late
70's. Their reputation as one of the best tribute bands on the circuit today
will ensure a fantastic night’s entertainment in true 70’s style to raise money
for some deserving charities.
We’re updating our Festival Focus section early this winter - next month in
fact. Festival organisers are already fixing dates and booking artists for the
2006 season, so we are going to help you plan your musical diaries with the
latest information. So in December double click on the Festival Focus section at
the top of the home page and get the latest news on all the festivals.
Congratulations to Southampton's Matt O'Donnell who at the age
of 22 is one of the youngest sound engineer/producers in the country. He is
celebrating the first birthday of his Untapped Talent Recording Studio this
month. Based in Unit 56 at the Basepoint Enterprise Centre, Anderson's Road in
Southampton, just by Itchen Bridge, Matt's studios have become popular with
local musicians and those from further afield over the last year.
One reason for its' popularity is that Untapped Talent is probably the cheapest
studio available for hire in the South, at only £15 per hour. It also has the
advantage of being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and unlike many
other studios has no maximum or minimum time limits.
Matt studied music technology at Islington University in London after gaining
practical experience in the music business as part of a popular vocal group and
as a solo artiste. In both roles he worked and recorded in many recording
studios throughout the UK, gaining the practical knowledge to go with the
professional expertise he was to gain later.
As Matt explains: "My aim was to open a down-to-earth studio where the
atmosphere was not intimidating. My practical experience has helped me
understand the needs of clients, and I listen to them. I feel it is better to
work in tandem with my clients rather than impose my views on them. Of course, I
will give my honest opinion, but we work things out together. In the end it's
what the client wants that matters. I'm pleased to say that I now have many
clients who come back regularly. They are impressed by the professional feel of
our air-conditioned studio and the facilities at the centre. There's a café a
minute away and a central toilet block with shower facilities round the
corner, One of the most popular facilities I offer is to record at any time of
the day - I'll come in midnight if needs be."
As one would expect with a relatively new recording studio, the equipment Matt
uses is bang up-to-date, including a sound booth specially imported from
Holland, a brand new Applemac G5 computer system, acknowledged as the best in
the business, linked to a Tascam DM24 mixing desk plus high standard
professional microphones and an Emagic Logic Pro 7 editing programme.
For more information about Untapped Talent see Matt's website
www.untappedtalent.co.uk . Matt can be contacted on: Mobile : 07888741274 or
07970424863. Please note that the mobile phone numbers above may occasionally be
unavailable due to recording in the studio.

Our good friend Gordon Haskell has a very good DVD called “The
Road to Harry’s Bar” coming out at the end of October that features an
incredible bunch of musicians. The DVD features a concert lasting 100 minutes
and there is also a 35 minute interview with Gordon which he says you will
either love or hate!
In January 2006, a new single by Gordon is scheduled to be released at the same
time as the book ‘’The Road to Harry’s Bar’’. Then around March Gordon is to
release another single along with the new album, tentatively called
‘’Wounded Tigers’’. Gordon is also gigging regularly at the 606 Jazz Club in
Chelsea with Paul Young on saxophone if you are suffering live-Haskell
deprevation.
