Welcome to
PLAYING OUT LOUD!
Welcome to the September 2004 edition of Playing Out Loud,
POL for short. More comprehensive than ever with in-depth articles and interviews. As regular
visitors will know, and there are thousands of them now making
90,000+ hits per
month, our mission is to stimulate interest in live music and let you know
what’s on and where in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining
counties. Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are
all covered - if it’s live it’s here. But POL is not just a gigs listing site. Our Message Board has proved a popular innovation and can be used to recruit band members or announce last-minute gigs.
And it’s completely free. We will continue to review gigs, CDs, books and restaurants and provide you with the latest news. We also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers
looking to improve their press, media or web content, and help them get more
gigs.
With over twenty years media experience, I personally know what is required to
get media coverage and how to present it, so
email me for more details. If you
like the look of this website my website manager can also help you set up your
own website or improve your existing one. Again, just
email for more
information.
POL September Editorial. Welcome to the
September edition of Playing Out Loud. With hits approaching
100,000 per month and nominated again for
the Hantsweb 2004 Awards, we seem to
be getting the formula right. But we’re not complacent and welcome constructive
criticism, comments and suggestions.
Our Articles section this month
features folk trio Last Night’s Fun, American alt country
noir outfit Richmond Fontaine, Isle of Wight band The Bees, blues-rock guitar
hero Danny Bryant & The RedEyeBand, Steve Knightley, Seth Lakeman and Jenna Witt
on the Western Approaches Tour and drunk-rockers Bowling For Soup from the USA.
There’s plenty of info on the last of the summer
Festivals including Swanage
Festival and Blues At The Fort plus CD
reviews on The stiX, Canned Heat and Sue Foley. Our
Reviews section will also
be constantly updated with live gigs and photos throughout the month, while our
News and
Messages sections will keep you in
touch with what’s going on and with each other.
As from this month our home page will carry a foretaste of what’s coming up in
the following month so look out for the best of the October gigs in the South
around the middle of this month. Make Playing Out Loud your own essential guide
to live music in the South by clicking on Favourites if you haven’t already done
so, then just get out there and see some gigs!
CDs for review or press packs etc should be sent directly to:
