Welcome to the latest edition of Playing Out Loud, POL for short, a monthly
guide to live music in the South of England, with gig listings, articles,
interviews, news, CD and gig reviews and much more. We now get over 200,000 hits
per month, reflecting the success of our mission to stimulate interest in live
music in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire and parts of adjoining counties.
Jazz, pop, blues, folk, country, rock, soul and classical music are all covered
- if it’s live it’s here.
Just click on the headings above to go where you want to go - resuming this
month is our Festival Focus section giving full details of all music festivals
in the South through to October.
As experts in the music media field with a host of contacts in the music
industry, we also offer our services, for a small fee, to bands and performers
looking to improve their press, media or web content, and get more gigs, and to
venues wishing to raise their profile and pull in more customers. Please email

September already, and as the festival season winds down venues across the South
are beginning to announce their autumn schedules. So keep in touch with this
site to find out who’s playing where and when. This month we are
highlighting some varied acts in our
Articles section - including exclusive POL
interviews with rising Manchester band, Alfie, once touted as the
next Oasis and dynamic young soul singer Laura Vane from Southampton, also frenetic Scottish folk act Shooglenifty, powerful American singer Jeff Scott
Soto, Australian outfit Loonaloop, heavy metal rockers Dragonforce and maverick
singer-songwriter John Parish, to name a few.

as the month goes on and there’s our
Message Board to keep you in touch with what’s happening on the music scene
